Hi Guys / Girls
I just wanted to asked if you could start a stick tread to keep a list of recommended workshops in each state.
I always get asked who can install all my stuff in the home states but finding it hard to recommend people as I only know a few.
A few other site have this sort of thread in each state and it seem to work really well as it is also a good way to attract sponsors.
cheers

Philip Lim Automotive - Sole trader on the North Shore at Asquith, about 20 years experience, he does all the work himself.

For western sydney, I recommend Windsor Exhaust Centre for exhaust stuff. Hi-Tech Brake and Clutch in Windsor, they also do suspension stuff too.
Roccos Performance do good work as well around Mt Druitt/Minchinbury. And Springwood Car Care in the mountains have an awesome reputation.

Wheel alignments and other suspension plus balancing stuff - definitely Pedders at Liverpool Sydney. Richard had found plenty of real faults after "professionals" have been over a car and it still kept on going "sideways" cos they couldn't fix it. But Richie found the problems and fixed them - not only my car but some others too. Highly recommend.
Note - all Pedders shops are independently managed. If one is bad, doesn't mean the all others are too.

I swear By Foxman Automotive in Randwick for anyone in the Eastern Suburbs. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for, and I can always trust the results. Oh and the guy who set my suspension up there used to set up drag cars, so...

These guys only had to replace my front shocks but I found them honest, did the job on time and were the best price. How can you beat that?

For anybody in the Newcastle area, I highly recommend speaking to Dean at the Caltex in Raymond Terrace, housemate has been there many times for various problems (Air Flow Meter, CV Shafts etc) all diagnosed and fixed same day.
He also has a no fix no fee agreement which is handy and he's always willing to give you a basic idea of what a problem could be over the phone.
He knows his stuff, pretty much anybody I have spoken to that lives in the Terrace agree that the bloke knows his stuff.
Phone Number: (02) 4987 2255 ask for Dean.

Highly recommend Meek Automotive in Girraween. Primarily GSR and EVO specialists but are more than happy to help with anything mitsubishi. Great for parts and labor. Very knowledgable mechanics.

For brakes in the Penrith area I recommend Better Brakes (near Westfield). My Verada had warped front discs when I bought it, and they machined them and replaced the pads on all four wheels for $250 and it's been perfect since.

Taree Mech.Services,
I Purchased a '92 Elite And had no end of trouble with the auto, other Mech's said the box was U/S. Taree auto picked up a 2nd hand one, only to find that the one sent did'nt fit, got another and after it was fitted they found the drive shafts were the wrong size for the box, so drive shafts were found and fitted, this gearbox was still faulty. had another look at it and could'nt tell me what it was, but said to leave it with them, They tested the Trans computer -- not real good, but still serviceable, Put in a Demo Recond Comp, -- no different, checked all the harneses, all O.K. Even put in another box, slight improvement, but still wouldn't stay in O/D and still a bit funny thru the gears, Their Sparkie asked around and his mate at EFI Spares in Raymond Terrace asked if the car had any modifacations done to it, I didn't know of any, but when Greg had another look at it he found it had been changed from Carb to EFI but the Computer had not been thought of during the process, so a suitable Recon Comp was fitted and BINGO car runs as smooth as silk, an expencive $1,700 lesson, but at least I know that my mechanic will not give up on my car. I know that all up there were MANY hrs put into my car, as I have seen the time sheets, and although it seems unbelieveable when you come to think of the labour in supplying, removing and refitting a gearbox 3 times, supply and fit drive shafts, all the time spent by the sparkie on the electricals, I think I got a great deal, they had the car for a period of 6 weeks, a loan car was supplied at no cost to me.
I can not thank them enough for their patience and "I WILL NOT LET THIS BEAT ME ATTITUDE"
Cheers, Nev

I highly recomend "Tweakit", Northern Beaches in Sydney.
They are definantely more expensive that most, but their work and service is top-notch, no shortcuts, good products, very knowledgable workshop.
so I highly recomend them for more complex jobs such as engine rebuilds, convertions etc. They are also the NSW Sprintex deale, so unlike most performance workshops, they have plenty of experience working with magnas.
Oh yeah, their tuner is very well-respected, worked for Haltech for 10 years and REALLY knows what's he's doing. Definantely someone I would recomend for tuning work, especially more comples stuff like standalone systems.

In the Shire:- Peter Kittos at Goodyear Autocare in President Ave Caringbah ( opposite Maccas ) I've followed this guy around since I first met him 20 years ago - he's that good.
They do all mechanical work, transmission, suspension, have 6 bays & always fair prices.pretty competitive on tyres too
He took over there about 3 years ago.
I've sent at least 20 ppl to him over the years - most still go to him.
Cheers
