PS. You quite definitely DO NOT need photoshop to resize. Grab something like IrfanView or The GIMP, both are 100% free.

paint is also fine for resizing
and www.imageshack.us is great for hosting pics

And thanks TIZZY for the feeder to fastmagna for the read and specs on the car

i *** love it, i hate pink cars, pink shirts, pink ties!
but for some reason the pink goes well with the wheels and overall car!
its not just a flat pink, its got a whitish pearl running with it.
the interior is nicely done, the pink highlights werent needed. but alot of work put into that!
maybe im just a closet heteropolitician

Boys, Boys, Boys...
Pink gets the girls, trust me. Its not a Metro/Hetero/Poloymoblabla Car it's just another Chocko who's spent too much money.
I got a Dyno print out from DTS as of Feburary this year with a power output of 145.2kW at the wheels. Email me if you want a copy, I'll scan it in. But that's my issue, I want more power, I've got a Sprintex Supercharger Kit on the cards as my major forced induction upgrade due by the end of March as RPW's Turbo packages are a rip-off. The boys at ESC are going to do the work for me.
Someone said I need bigger Rims? wtf? 20's are too small? considering they're Original DUB'a and no XHP rip-off I think I've done well for $4500...
I also think my Magna is the only one in Canberra, dare I say Australia that's a everyday driver with fully adjustable coil overs, please correct me if I'm wrong.
Auto Salon, been there done that but i'll be going again, check out fastmagna.com, buy one of my t-shirts, you'll see...
I didn't want to sound ****y guys but I didn't appreciate your comments of my car being, Gay, Homo, or expect a woman to drive it, etc, etc as I think the only other Magna that's on par with mine in Canberra is 'Daniel's' Black Ralliart which i find to be very stylish & original.
Basically, go spend $45g's on your rides, then start commenting on my car.
Peace.

I managed to get 145kW with Pacemaker Headers along with a full Lukey Exhaust System, High-Flowed Cat, Cold Air In-Take that goes down to the front bar, RPW's oversized Throttle Body and tuned with a Unichip on 98 octance peddy...
Can't wait to get my Supercharger...
But I'm also a proud owner of a VL Calais Turbo & a '90 TP Magna which I refer to as Maggie...

People called it gay because it was pink?
You have an awesome car there man. The wheels are top notch too, dont see them around at all..
I reckon TZABOYS's ralliart would also be a contender for one of the nicest around too
btw 145kw's is REAL NICE!

you are wrong, there are many
145kw is great
be prepared for a big let down when you get a sprintex kit spend 7k and only get a further 20kw atw
just go nos, or save up and get a turbo and while your at it a manual too

My VL Turbo is for sale at carsales.com.au, you'll see it there under private seller's, 10g-15g's in ACT. Not as much love or money thrown into it as Pinkie but still very neat for its age.
The pink inserts in the interior was a decision made by Me & Greg at Top Cat as we just thought if we were to paint them also in cream there simply would be no contrast and I wanted to relate the interior with the outside too, you know what i mean?
Whereas for the door handle's on the side and the seatbelt buckles on the pillars they remained in their stock colour as they can be painted, not re-covered, but Greg advised me that they chip pretty easily over time...
I have been really looking into this Sprintex Supercharger, on their website they state that a TJ VR-X like mine after tuning managed 251kW (at the engine). There's quite a few pics of it there too. I've been trying to call them over there in Perth but haven't been able to get through... Maybe on Holiday's?
I like the fact how a front mount intercooler is not esstenial to the upgrade and that the cold air intake is more than statisfactory...
As for a manual I have been to a few places around the region but the most professional and honest boys I found were at Auto Torque in Phillip, I'm not an idiot when it comes to tuning cars as when I'm not working its research and discussing other possibilities with my mechanic mates, anyway, one is the problem of finding a suitable gearbox for my car, a new one is hard to find and I don't want a used one, it's cost invovled & installation, the biggest problem is getting the electrics right when this is done and cheapest full job quote I got was from those boys was at around 9-10g's.
Mitsubishi on Melrose Drive just said 'No, we don't do that.'
I'd rather put that money into something else and keep my Triptonic whilst still being able to cop h**d and drive at the same time...

manual conversion has been successfully done for around the 2k mark a number of times, seem to be proven to last aswell.
but who needs a manual when you can cop it...
Search around here, some people have done it for $800 themselves, most 3-4g in a workshop.

looks good, and good of the owner to come on here, yet not just straight out bag people for any comments :) for a pink car with 20" chrome rims, its actually been done well :) i'd love to see some sort of custom taillights made up (for shows etc, use a pink tint over the clear/chrome ones :) ), besides that not bad!
oh and yeah theres a few people running around on adjustable coilovers :)
also, i believe Sprintex either has 1 kit left, or is sold out... sorry to say! also think of the reliability, and performance results from it

Please stand corrected.
Nice ride, I'm not a fan of pink cars but you managed to pull it off well.
BTW, I have spent nearly 45k on my TL VR AWD (not including purchase) but it is a sleeper. I prefer my cars to go hard, rather than look good.
Rather then getting a sprintex kit, speak to CAPA. I have been dealing with them lately and they can do a custom supercharger for about 8k and it will crap all over the sprintex ones.
Also, get your tune checked. With the mods you have I would have thought you would have more kw at the wheels than that.
andrewd
29-12-2007, 11:19 AM
also think of the reliability, and performance results from it
the kit as installed is fantastic. reliable as in all weather conditions... just dont expect performance...
mod it and run into troubles as your asking it to do things it was never intended to do!
still interested to see what raptor comes up with as its a cheap option
CAPA kit crapping all over it.... seriously doubt it, possibly in peak kw figure atw but the sprintex twin screw will own it every where else and at all rpms
if i had my time again....
TWIN TURBO
without a doubt!
cos i could run it on 5-6psi as per sprintex kit, or rebuild the engine as few other members have and run 14psi and make 500+hp at the engine as is easily possible

145kw out of an auto? never seen it with those mods but hey, a mods a mod and i'm sure it goes way better than before.
If you're getting ESC to do your car, it kinda make sense to me now why they had their heads in my engine bay at gold coast and sydney autosalons.

Bugger the manual, go the Audi 6-speed tranny like i have. Cost me $8300 installed with custom housing and will outshift any manual out there. I also lose bugger all power losses through the drivetrain now.
Plus you can keep your tiptronic and still cop head while driving. :surprised :surprised

So Sprintex isn't producing the kit anymore? I hope that's not the case...
My concern is the strain the extra power is going to put on my auto transmission, as good as we think they maybe what do you boys think how it would handle it?
What are the contact details for these CAPA people's? Is that pirce of 8k for a full kit, does anything else need to be added onto that?

Its about 8k for a basic kit with about the same specs as the sprintex one.. The one i am looking at is going to be more.
I think that sprintex have stopped making their kits..they had a clearence price on the magna kits not too long ago. They are also not to well liked amongst many of the MG community after heaps of them had issues with thier superchargers.

yeah cos MG's are ****heaps lol
a few ppl here had a problem too and it was due to faulty bearings.... which cost all of $4
i busted my blower and it was repaired in 2 days and reasonably priced... all parts still available which you can order and repair your own blower... there isn't many parts to it.. simple thing it is

drive in drive out 7K, but then get yourself a whalbro 550HP fuel pump before you get any sort of s/c or forced induction setup.
the sprintex kit is the bomb because it looks stock, sounds like a jet plane and your car will fly! not sure what capa kit everyone is talking about but i highly doubt it would be as well suited and designed for our magnas.
Yes some of us have blown engines because of the kit, but when u tune them for high end power or in my case bump up the boost of course the car will **** itself. A set of forged pistons fixed that problem for me and i've been running for a fair while now on 10psi with no dramas

Looks pretty nice man. Im a big fan of pink cars done right and it doesnt look too bad. Im not a huge fan of the rims, especially for that price but they are ok.
I think the tail lights need changing as they dont go with the car at all. Think tinted or even standard would look better. Those clear ones let the car down a lot imo.

best way to do things is to find out who here has what... eg turbo's s/c kits etc... and ask them what they think of it and what it cost and how much power and how fast it goes, and also if they could do it again what would they do....
me 1st
sprintex kit with custom exhaust high flow fuel pump and custom tune all up approx 10-12k
well over 100kw gain at the engine plenty of torque....
1.5sec off the 1/4mile same economy as stock! sounded cool as and wasn't highly modified only 6.4psi boost on a stock engine and no mods other than what you would already have (k&n panel extractors and exhaust) thats it
would i do it again.... yes... BUT
I'd save a few more $$$ and get a twin turbo set up and forged pistons instead of playing around with the s/c if i could find someone to do the work down here that i trust
Good point andy..
I wouldnt change anything ive done to mine if i had the chance. spent way to much money on it but sounds mental with the massive cams and engine work. i wouldnt change my wheels or change the suspension height either.
I havent spent $45K on my magna but i reckon im not far off.. i dont look it as spending all this money on a car. i look at it as a hobby and spending my money on the car instead of smoking or drinking it all away is what i want to do with it..
Only thing you have to remember is a magna was never designed as a performance car so everything you do is hard work..:)

if you want an s/c, all a magna will take is 7psi on a rich safe tune and nothing more. Once you start to tweak it the toilet tissue pistons will fail
http://img461.imageshack.us/img461/6529/1000864bn1.jpg
i had big power, pb of 191kw at gold coast autosalon but wanted more, so i upped the boost and tuned it and it made 214kw, up from 178kw the same day so gained 36kw. It was awesome, for the 5 days it lasted. lol
Your is a show boat, a nice one at that. The s/c is very much show with the jet plane noise it makes and gives a good power increase.

Yeah mate dont see why not.
Micjiay had a supercharged verada (4sp) and his transmission was fine with it. although he said he needed a stronger torque converter or something along those lines as his was slipping. but he'd know more then me about it.

Micjiay had a supercharged verada (4sp) and his transmission was fine with it. although he said he needed a stronger torque converter or something along those lines as his was slipping. but he'd know more then me about it.
would spin the wheels from a standing start up until 40+kays
yeah and irrelevant but i had an AWD supercharged auto
and i did several 5000rpm neutral dumps :shhhh: and lots of hard launches off the converter and never a problem even with 118xxxkm on it
the engine on the other hand

Hmmm... Sounds good.
I just hope Sprintex still has one available by the time I get into contact with them, I think they're shop is closed for the holidays, haven't been able to get into contact with anyone from there.
Apparently you can't use your UNICHIP with the unit so I might have to sell mine.
Let me know if you know any boys that want's one for their car...

Yea that's ****in' nuts, screw it, i'm superchargering my bitch, its gonna sound like that too...
Problem, can i run up to 7psi with my auto tranny?
you'll have no probs with the auto 'box as long as you look after it. get the fluid changed regularly and it'll be fine.
mine's done a lot of hard driving on the track and it's never missed a beat.
PM me if you want to talk about it.
cheers,

sure you can use a unichip, but also the smt6 too which is kinda strange using a piggyback ontop of another
check the fs threads supercharged vrx is tuned with a unichip!
i dont think there are any sprintex kits left.... but im sure they would still be able to supply one if you twist their arm.... you can still buy the blowers brandnew, it's just the parts they would need to have machined up

1STUNNA, looks like you have already spent quite a bit of cash on your ride.
I wouldn't waste my time and effort again with a sprintex kit. As has been said i only had the 4sp auto but still, it wasn't the best bang for buck.
With a ride like urs, I'd turbo it or do an engine transplant from a Galant. You need something to backup that loud paintjob of yours

have to hit up one of the canberra meets man so i can rub this car uplol . keep an eye out on in ACT threads should be one soon. man ive tried everywhere in canberra and sydney to get some coilovers for me wagon i can only get front ones but. not enough space in the rear or some crap. but there was a few others getting around act with adjustables (dont mean to be a ass).. but im tucking rim now so ill let them slide.
you need some white walls(or pink and silver) stat.. my mate does em PM me for his number. i work with dragan and alecks and pete man apparently your friends with them?

oh man thats one hot magna. love the paint job man good work.
45k on a TL??? wow some details pls
and an audi 6speed box more info please

Got the coilovers through Pedders, who went through K-Sport Sydney. Took them 9 weeks to manufacture as they made them with adjustable camber levers in both the fron and rear struts...
Don't worry whitewalls are coming soon just been busy to do anything recently...

mind me asking what the coil overs cost>?

I got them at a good price through a Friend of a Friend bla bla...
But, K-Sport/Pedders asked $2700 all up, then another $600 to put them in...
At the start they said they could do it for $2400 installed but after having problems with trying to manufacture the adjustable camber prices starting going up...
After some deliberation with my mechanic & friend, I got them put in for free by doing a 'favour' and paid $2050 for the coil overs in the end...
End result is that I'm happy it's slammed without any rubbing, scraping or scratching...

On another note, that Supercharger thread etc has been very useful.
This Raptor company seems to be a better go than Sprintex in terms of pricing, what you get already in their kits & power output.
I'm not looking for a huge power gain, just a little shot of roids to keep my Maggie on par with it's competition...

while the colour and wheels (serious gutter rash potential there!) might not be to my taste, thats some awesome work! paint quality looks spot on, the interior looks great, fits the style of the car VERY well. any chance of fitting some slightly more simple rims on to see how it looks?

I recommend against Ozzy Tyres. The wheels are crap quality and I have seen their so called 'race' wheels collapse and have spokes shear off the hub.

yeah true that, dont go buying their ozzyracing rims and excpect to hold up as good as say davinci's /bsa yada when you hit a pothole gutter etc, wouldnt suprise me if they just split.

Guys
Very dissapointing that older members here still choose to spam
This is not a competition over a commodore or a Magna, if you want to argue commodores, do it in the commodore forum, not here!!!!
BE WARNED< any more will result in a 14 day ban, no questions and no warning!!!!!

It's honestly a shame to see this go, I'm really hoping it will go to someone who appreciates this car, As it has been much of an icon to me since i have started here at AMC. Good luck with the sale.
