Been thinking about this for a while nowand I'm just putting this out there for people who aren't sure how to do some modifications or don't have the tools. If your are in the brisbane/ ipswich area and you need help i am happy to help with mods whatever they might be i have a large shed and plenty of tools also.Maybe the QMD could make this a regular thing getting a few members together over some  and doing some mods to help each other out just a thought.

That sounds like a good idea man. Yes I can see it now  a mods day every month or something where we can get a helping hand and all it would cost is a few beers .

You seem to have a pretty tight crew up there in QLD, so sounds like a top idea.

my shed + your tools and my tools and we should have a garage.. hmmm should i buy that hoist hehe
as long as your exhaust has flanges set up extractors will be a breeze. however if not you will need exhaust shop to weld it all together.

I really like this idea. It seems a centralised place of knowledge/fitment is a GOLD idea.
I will be watching this thread closely. All we need now is an Auto Electrician to have a look at making my Auto Close power windows work!!!!

I have some auto electrical knowledge .What exactly do you need help with.
mcs_xi
26-09-2009, 12:57 PM
Basically, I have a bit of understanding when it comes to Auto Electrical items as well, but the previous owner of my car has installed this device in the door to automatically close the windows when the car gets locked.
It is allready wired except for a red wire and black one in the drivers door. This is the bit im struggling with. I have the wiring diagrams for both my windows and the BEM system and the window closing box.
However, im struggling to work out why these wires were left unconnected. As the installation of the box requires the re-routing of the window wires, if I unplug the box, the windows will not work at all.
Currently, the windows, don't close themselves. As it would be a cool feature, I would like it to work.
The only thing i can think of doing is testing connecting the wires to things and seeing what is what, but someone who knows more than me with this item could be more helpfull as im not wanting to damage the box.
Mike.
P.S, my knowledge of autoelectrics is basic, but the things I have managed so far to do, is install Automatic headlights and in my previous TE, I installed a factory clock into the display above the airvents. But this box, stumps me abit. :kb:

Once my shed is emptied out in a couple of weeks I'll set up a weekend and we can have a get together..
as for the headers, maybe you will need to work out if your exhaust has the flange too and it all lines up...
as for the Stem Seals.. no idea, but we can try, can't go too bad aslong as you don't do the bolts up too tight E!
crackajnr
27-09-2009, 04:24 PM
To be honest stem seals will be a struggle unless we can get a fitting to pump the cylinders up to stop the valves falling down into the cylinders after the collets are removed.
As long as the extractors have all the flanges to hook them straight up to the factory system that won't be a problem but if they don't they will need to be welded and that might be a problem.
Brad_03tj
27-09-2009, 04:52 PM
I have done stem seals on a suzuki serria a long time ago. All I did was find the postion of the piston close to TDC and feed some rope in the spark plug hole and the wind the piston to TDC or as high as it will go and keep a little tension on the crank so it doesn't slip, then remove the collets, replace seal, put spring and hat back in and collets, back off crank to remove rope and then move on to the next cyliner. It is a slow process but it can be done.

Yeah Marty not a problem you will need 1.5 mtr of 3/8 tranny hose and 4 clamps aswell About $25 total from our local parts store.
Hey SH00T i think cracka has another one of 'em tranny cooler. Check with him!
I have a second gen one but we discovered on the weekend that from KJ up dont have the mounting point for the second gen ones to fit easily. So we just used an aftermarket cooler and went through the A/C core fins carefully.

That was next Question.
What about some extra Tranny Fluid.
What colour Amber Fluid?
crackajnr
28-09-2009, 02:11 PM
Yeah you will probly need to top it up after it runs for a little to cover the extra capacity of the cooler,As a guess you would need no more than a liter .

hey all good Tone...took it out today..no probs. Thing is tho I used some really good double sided tape to mount it to the passenger side bracket beside the ECU. isnt coming off to easy. Hi everybody,
I'm new in the forum and Brisbane. I've bought a '96 TE Magna. I'm trying to fix the problems to get the RWC and re-register the car and I'm gonna need some parts.
The priority is for a radiator, engine pipe assembly, muffler and rear left tyre bearing.
Just wanted to know if you can suggest me some wreckers or maybe direct me to the right direction.
