Also, would like to hear some feedback on what members thing about the frequency of our official events. I would like to see things happening every 2-3 weeks, even if there are a few more social events during the week and not so many mid-week cruises.

Since we have such a massively spread member base, I don't see a regular meetup happening in one place as this would be too hard for too many members to travel too (especially with all your monkeys down south), but I do think an increase in frequency of social events, spread around the place will work. Feel free to post up your suggestions of venues with decent (and relatively cheap) grub.

Should you have any issues with what your NSW reps have planned on the events schedule, please feel free to put them in this thread and we will delete your post for you

depends on when the campbelltown one is but i might take the trip down considering i know the area would love to see my old house in st helens park.

Agreed, cruises are great but the can't be as frequent as a simple meetup for dinner or whatever. I like the idea of a 2-3 weekly meetup.

How about a bowling night at AMF Penrith?

You have the right idea, but location wrong. Penrith is too far out for everybody to visit, needs something more central (like Parra).

We are hopefully going to plan a nice long day cruise out your way sometime soon, looks like Ego's car is never coming back from NT so we aren't holding up our Bathurst cruise any longer.

Bowling sounds great, and I agree somewhere like Parra would be close............ for Blue Lightning :hmm: (and the rest of us will still have to drive at least half an hour lol)

Thank science, a cruise I can make to the starting point with out having to drive for 3 hours.

But yea a campbelltown to gong or Liverpool to gong cruise will be much appreciated. Whether we go ahead with the go karting idea or just go for a sight seeing/feed cruise either way everything is pretty.

Only reason I suggested Penrith AMF is I'm a league bowler there, and go there regularly with mates and they may do us a deal.

It's not like it would be a regular thing.

Putty road run up to singleton, then down to wollombi pub for lunch, that would require an early start and a full tank of fuel.

for memory i dont think this club has ever done a putty road run so it could be time

Keen on that idea, we could meetup at singo or somewhere along the road.

We'll prob end up doing a putty road run south sometime.

My Idea is a AMC Western Wander Weekend.

Basically saturday and sunday.

Saturday drive to the Blue Mountains go to the Jenoleon Caves and then head out via oberon to Bathurst and back into Lithgow for the night with dinner and drinks at the Workmans Club.

Sunday go to ZigZag Railway I could try and work out an arrangement to maybe have a bbq there (depending on numbers) and also a tour of the workshops etc. Then head home via Bells Line of Road.

Cheers,

Nathan.

im not really big on bowling but i suggest maybe one week out penriff way the next out campbelltown way that way it keeps it fair for everyone, also a day of skirmish would be a GREAT idea imo. we could plan it for a month down the track or whatever to give all members plenty of time to save

Hey guys remember its good to try and get out to as many cruises as you can not just the ones in your area. Some of us live on the north side and it can be a bit of a hike for us to come out but it is always a good cuise when you do.

package seals available
Great if you want to send something somewhere, or freeze dry it, or keep it fresh...

Was that fast lane karting? We went there for a mate's bucks party and it was great. Really well priced. Admittedly a day at Wakefield is cheaper per hour you spend there, more expensive overall.

on wednesdays they have a $50 deal you get 4 races (and a warm up ) and the winners from the 4 races then race eachother for a 12lapper, winner gets a trophey and $50 or $100 to use there (i think) i use to do it weekly its mad fun but can get annoying if you get a slow kart

Whats wrong with the wollongong track?
Will be a good point to meet for most members out this way and will be a good drive down for sydney members plus the added bonus that if a good day is made of it,we can cruise down and hit up the karts then have dinner and cruise round for a bit if there is good time left.

Patience, we are planning an event down to the gong.

If we are going to do a karting day it would probably make sense to have at a more central location don't you think? Rather than asking people to drive right down to the gong, and then spend a fair few hours karting.

Gotto think about people's safety and consider people getting tired etc. What about people from the north side of Sydney, they are gunna have to drive a long way just to go carting. Also comes back to the point that Ego made about costs of events adding up, not everyone can blow petrol to the gong and back AND karting in one day. We have to try and accommodate everyone as best we can

I did the Dapto race karts quite a few years ago, they were really quick, but I kept spinning on the corners, and they need to be push started as there's no clutch, so I spent most of my time waiting at the side for a push.

I found fast lane karts great fun when we went last year, and quite good value.

I'll go one better, 2 years ago my dads works christmas party was at the go-kart track at Raleigh, my dad broke 2 front axles by going off the track on a 4wd adventure on the same corner, i took out a tyre wall and got my kart stuck on one of the tyres:P
Few of the other guys, who are truckies managed to make a few karts stop run and stuff.
Needless to say we got our money out of it, Boral Bricks Kempsey is no longer welcome:D

A good run would the the ocean drive from Bulli up through the Nasho then down to Cronulla for a feed and back to the gong the long way via old pacific hwy with the back end of mt ousley and end at a maccas or Hungrys in fairy meadow

That was a favourite of mine in my 3.0 NA Liberty (Loved being a sales rep in that area)

FYI I did the above run last night with a mate (except via Bulli Pass) and it was absolutely amazing! Macquarie Pass was one of the best roads I have been on, the entire road has been re-done recently and it is smooth as can be. I highly recommend this for a cruise, however due to the complexity of the run I do suggest it being done in the daytime as some of our members may not have the confidence to do this run at night.

First time I did MC pass was at night

No brake pedal at the end due to stupid car in front

Its better going one at a time and meeting up at the bottom or top rather then following single file

just found I had better handling and confidence in corners than some others and had to use anchors much more than I like when previously attacking the Pass

ROFL! I opened the maps.google link and it showed me a picture of Antarctica! Really dude, I can't be out all week on a cruise :)

After re-aligning the map, I think it's a really good drive.
Only issue could be the ferry being a bottle neck - anything too low might not get on or off easily and imagine if there were more than 2 ferry loads of people on the cruise, it would probably take 30min to get across.

A long time ago, I went on a cruise up Bells line of Road, turned left somewhere and run along the ridge of the mountains to Katoomba (Victoria Pass?) and back towards the M4.
Was good fun and my turbo diesel 4x4 ran beautifully in the high altitude + cold air.

Or taking that a step further, a dual cruise that meets somewhere in the middle. I'm sure all the lovely residents in Woy Woy would like to see up to 20 noisy Magna's in one place :)

yesterday's show at Gannons Park in peakhurst was excellent, and hopefully we got a few more people interested in joining the club.

I really think we should start attending more of these around NSW and get the AMC name out and about. Me and pete were talking about getting some banners and that sort of thing to make the stand look nicer. The Z car club and Mini club had the most awesome stands, with cars arranged in chronological order and details on post stands about each car. very cool

OK guys,...... so ive had a couple of thoughts today. I drove out to spencer for a bit of fun this afternoon and it was such a beautiful road and a great drive, we really should do a mega cruise up that way soon. I am thinking Breakfast at Glenorie Bakery, mega cruise, then lunch at either Windsor Seafood or the Macquarie Arms Hotel... or maybe even the Jolly Frog hotel. Here is the route for that cruise

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=248%2F252+New+Line+Rd,+Dural+NSW+2158,+Austr alia+(Bunnings)&daddr=glenorie+to:Berowra+waters+to:mt+white+to:sp encer+to:wisemans+ferry+to:windsor&hl=en&geocode=FZ2__f0dzoUACSHBvfqZbtJz8A%3B%3B%3B%3B%3B% 3B&mra=ls&sll=-33.533382,151.057892&sspn=0.369746,0.727158&ie=UTF8&ll=-33.536244,151.055832&spn=0.369734,0.727158&z=11

Social gathering idea: Hogs breath cafe at Northmead. Shopper dockets have a 25% off total food bill for them currently. Expires 15th December.

And if it gets accepted, then I'll have to come along since it was my idea! :)

Oggy

Cruise idea, and members anywhere from WA to NZ can borrow this idea too:

http://www.powercruise.com/images/logos/pc23.jpg
Eastern Creek Raceway 25th – 28th February 2010.

I couldn't find entry forms on the website: www.powercruise.com , so enquiries may be in order.
I attended the first 2 or 3 and it cost about $100 as part of a car club, but our car club helped with advertising and may have received cheaper or some free entries.
Would AMC be interested in getting involved?

I loved the weekend - cruising around eastern creek in my wife's 1.5L automatic Toyota and being overtaken by a 351 GT going sideways out of turn 9, stuff like that - there's dyno and burnout competitions, show + shine, best club trophy and it goes for 3 or 4 days!

Here's a vid of what it's like during cruise time - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETlEzOmgP4Y and checkout the other vids from me or just search for Powercruise Sydney on u tube.
Typically you get 5 or 6 laps at EC per session, approx 4 sessions a day. This vid was unusual because I came onto the front straight and couldn't work out where all the cars were - I had the track to myself for over half a lap and had fun with it, even running wide out of turn 2, that's a tricky corner. Of course I caught up to a VL at turn 7, so just went around the outside of him on turn 8. :)

Doing it again in the faster Magna would be fun, and I've shown my stock car at a car show - both to support the marque of the vehicle and to make the better cars in the club look more outstanding :)

Cheers, Oggy.

The wollongong guys will know what im talking about, and it would be too late this year, but what if we approached i98FM (local radio station here) about being part of the Camp Quality Convoy for kids....1. we would be promoting the Australian Magna Club and 2. I reckon we could raise a nice some of money for kids who really need it....and if you ever wanna go away for the weekend let me know, mum and dad are part of BRAT (Bike Riders and Tourers Illawarra) and they have been away to a few places that do deals like $30p.p and that includes your bed and breakfast!! And for the game you could do a night run to a haunted house, or the picton tunnels, tho you tresspass to get to them, they apparently are a somewhat freaky experiance! just a couple of ideas!!

In the 6 years I've been in the club we have tried to paint ball twice. Everybody is keen then they all start pulling out and complaining about the lack of money and time. we are left with 3 people at the end for the event which makes it a no go. Halloween Cruise

Hmmmm i had looked in the mirror earlier and saw my ghastly hair and started wondering if anyone would be up for a halloween cruise and bbq?! Just an idea.....fancy dress would be optional and given the fact that Halloween is on the sunday could do it the saturday..... and maybe....a drive upto picton tunnels......apparently its hectic up there.....put the spooky in halloween...i dunno what do ppl think??

Guys please keep this thread to ideas and not dribble..... we have a chat thread for that :)

Halloween cruise could be a good idea, but to make it work we need suggested route, activity etc.

As suggested in the car with EGO on the way back from Adelaide - A joint overnight/long weekend cruise with the QMD boys to somewhere on the mid-north coast (ie. Port Macquarie, South West Rocks, Coffs Harbour). Jason and myself think this is a great idea, how about the rest of you?
