hey all,

i've been travelling around australia in my old 88 magna wagon, all was going good till i hit a wallaby last night, managed to hit the brakes but still hit it at close to a hundred kms.

good news the rad is ok, one fan was working, engine and steering seem allright, i had to drive it another 150 km to get to my mates in katherine.

bad news, left lights the glass is smashed, but somehow they still work, the plastic of the bumper is ok, but the metal behind it had bent back pushed in the second fan (ac fan) and the horns don't work.

there are two wreckers here in katherine, i'm gonna have a look tuesday morning. if i can find a head light assembly and a grill and a left indicator light cover, i might be back in bussiness.

if anyone knows a wrecker on the west coast that has an old tm/tn magna or if anyone has on sitting in their yard let me know.

planning on continuing my trip, :)

Damn!, where's Virgil & Thunderbird 2 when you need em, International rescue's been on the down-hill since i was akid.
Hope you're gonna drop in on us SA members on the return trip? I'm sure we can help with any running repairs.

Thats bad luck.

I reckon you're a bit insane travelling in the territory at night though.
I've seen cars driving the stuart at night doing 40Kmp/h with no lights on. Let alone the wildlife, Kanga's and emu's and the like, If they come through your window, their legs will tear you pieces trapped in a car.
And out there, you will die.

It just aint worth it.

hey thats ok, i came back and did another trip.

have been trying not to drive at night at all on these trips, at the end of my last trip i had to lock up the brakes a few more times for roo's and in the middle of the day. front tires had a bit of a flat spot when i was done.

I did do all my repairs in sa. the u pull it had like 20 of my old magna, so spent a day pulling parts and another day in my mates driveway putting it all back together again.

this last trip i went from melbourne up the middle and then down the east coast and am now back in melbourne and about to go home again for a while.
the magan had no breakdowns or flats in both these trips , apart from the roo

cheers
