New type of Speed Cameras in Vic

Some of you have probably already seen these around, but for your reference Victoria Police and the Dept of Justice announce 30 non-fixed red light cameras around Melbourne will become fixed, digital and upgraded to catch speeding drivers.

When you see the stripes it means that there is a speed camera. The locations for these new cameras are listed below. The one in question is located on Maroondah Highway (Croydon (North?)) at the bottom of a very steep hill. Of course it is illegal for a radar or mobile speed camera to be set up in these sort of positions but its ok if its fixed.

that one in croydon is ridiculous. Seriously like its a 3 or 4 lane wide road which i have NEVER seen an accident on in that part of it. Personally i see it as blatant revenue raising

Couple of people got run over by cars speeding down the hill a year or so ago, i recon thats why its there.
They cant put them on the slope as far as im aware so they place it just after it.
Where that camera is placed is quite a long distance from the base of the hill. A good 500m i would estimate, if you cant get your speed under control by then you deserve the fine.

I must admit, up here in shitville(country) we're kinda lucky... You see a late model car on the side of the road, slow down. Most likely it'll be a Tenex contractor with one of the most advanced cameras in the world fitted to their car (its a condition as a contractor all operator vehicles must be 2005 or newer, go figure! Older=more likely a cooling problem to me......

For the westerners, merging from the West Ring road onto the Westgate, their is cameras on the City side of the first bridge, There is also cameras between the Fitzgerald Rd overpass and the twin Mobil service centres on the West Ring Rd, yet more so there is some coming out of the Pascoe Vale underpass on the West Ring rd.
Anyone travelling on the Calder, be careful from 2-7pm between the Keilor Pk turnoff and the 2nd Sunbury turnoff. Its a goldfield for the filth, they patrol it with no less than 5 cars and 3 bikes everyday in those hours....
