Just an update for anyone interested. You can still buy these on eBay from the US. Just purchased one myself today for $72.06 including delivery.

Everyone else has paid under $20 from other existing sources.... I paid AUD$16 from eBay USA.. arrived in 2weeks. How did you manage to pay $72 for one??

In fact, heres one for under AUD$8 shipped:

I ordered one out of China for less than $10 although it will be 5-6 weeks before it gets here. This doesn't matter as I only want it for when mine does let go! It is possible that these are not the same quality as the $72 one mentioned above but at $72 that is a lot cheaper than buying one locally.

Guess I have stuffed up. Goth the one on the Mitsubishi part number, not the Hyundai/Kia one, my bad. Oh well, live and learn.

Ive put together a quick diy to replace the valve see below...

They call it a canister purge valve at mitsubishi stealerships, note the part number on bag and receit. cost is a bit steep at nearly $129!

The valve is behind intake manifold...

    looking from passenger side

put a spanner on the top nut and undo to allow better access

Remove the electrical plug by squeezing together, pull of hoses on either end of the valve (plastic cylinder)

    the valve once out,

I tried blowing it out and spraying it out with MAF sensor cleaner to see if this might fix the valve but after reinstalling it, the noise was still present.

I then installed the new valve which is just a reverse of getting it out, started the car and ... no more noise. thanks for checking this out guys.

*edit; I had to resort to buying and installing this myself as I was 1400km past 130,000km warranty period and mitsubishi didnt want to honour the warranty after this point, I even tried their goodwill clause as they call it and still I was denied... even though my family have 7 late model mitsubishi cars (we're a loyal bunch) they wouldnt replace my $129 valve
Thankyou so much for this, Your a nice guy Again Many Thanks

Looks very similar to 28910-26900 EVAP Vapor Canister Emission Purge Valve listed on ebay for Hyundai and KIA but different Part Number for 10 bucks. I wonder if any way to find out?
