Wait... so you're telling me you were waiting till you paid out your loan on the car before you did simple mods like changing the intake, filter and stereo? Lol.

I assure you the bank and/or insurance company wouldn't have cared/noticed. Otherwise, I have no idea what other reason you've held off.

Some people prefer to pay off loans before they indulge in mods! Financial priorities, simple!

That's not the best thing to do for an engine, Zilo.

If time is proving a problem, I'll happily come and take it for a drive for you

Disconnected and reconnected the battery this morning after she threw a "check engine" light following a failed start. So, new battery this weekend, I guess...

And of course, the radio code was wiped when I disconnected the battery, and the previous owner very helpfully didn't write it down anywhere.

Just visit your local dealer and get them to tell you the code. You will need to provide proof of ownership of vehicle and provide its VIN.

New front hubs today. What a difference they make. The steering has tightened right up, the steering wheel shudder that kicked in at 40kmh has gone, the road noise is appreciably less (although i must admit that the crap tyres i have on at the minute don't help there). I've only done 6000k's since i bought it in November last year and the amount of miles i'm currently doing the damn things will still be on the wheels when i send the car to the scrap dealer. Many many years ago in coldtoria, every taxi you saw had Falken tyres - mainly because the bloody things lasted for ever and i think these things will too. I was looking at the Bridgestone site last night and it looks like they're retiring the RE002's for a new RE003. Has anyone tried them yet?

On the other hand, i'll probably never need to replace the hubs or the timing belt again, so that's a bonus.

Geez Andrew, that's a helluva lot in only 6 weeks!
Good to see someone really looking after their 380, and especially the rare GTL.
Yep, that noisy purge valve is a pest of a thing and $140 for a new one is a rip-off, but if you're a perfectionist (and it seems like you are) then you have no choice but to get a new one.
You could always go to a wreckers and get a used one fairly cheap, but of course there is a good chance it will be just as noisy!
Now Mitsu-less for the first time in 29 years!
