Default 2006 lancer mirvic motor question

donor car 2006 lancer 2 ltr has a 5 speed manual
It needs to bolt to the 2006 lancer 2 ltr CVT

owner has to replace the 2 ltr engine

    question
will the engines be the same
    or
are the 2 ltr engines compatible with gearboxes on the 2006 models

Its possible that the engines are the same, and it's possible they might not.

Thing is, you'll need to change ECU and possibly wiring too.

Another thing to be mindful of is the chassis rails.
At work, we learnt an Evo X gearbox wont fit a CJ Lancer, due to the LH chassis rail being incorrect.

I'd suggest it won't be a straight fit...

If both engines are 4B11 Mivec engines they will be identical.

If you are swapping a manual engine into a CVT equipped car, you will need to replace the clutch and flywheel off the manual with whatever bits the CVT model has.

Obviously you will need to retain the electronics in the CVT model.

Check that the manual engine has the same sensors as the CVT engine, there may be extra sensors on the CVT engine like on the throttle body not on the manual version, so some component swapping may be needed.

Reuse the CVT driveshafts, the manual ones are bound to be different. Engine mounts at the gearbox end may be different too.

Sad to say, I'm guessing, and so is anyone else who hasn't actually done this transplant.

Knowing Mitsu, there may well be some problems along the way. Good luck with it!
