My Aunt drove her 407 TD from south of Sale to us here in Mudgee, about 900-1000kms, filled up in Sale, still had half a tank when they got here.

Only trouble with naming it a 240 bcoz of different engine, is it will be confused with the Volvo 240 (god bless)

Same engine is about 121kW in Outlander and Grandis.

    Call it the 378 (380 - 2 cylinders).

I think the move for a 4 cylinder is a smart one, I just think that the naming is a bit stupid. It kinda locks them into the 3.8L.

As for "the lancer has a 2.4L so why bother". I would buy a large 4 cyl over a Lancer simply because of the room. When you are a tall bastard you need all the room you can get

yeah i said a while back that they should consider a "Mitsubishi 240" model to directly combat the toyota camry, mazda 6 and accord euro, but it needs to have about 140kw i reckon to make sure it can compete with the most powerful of the 4cyl rivals

and also even tho its a better car now with the mivec engine, the lancer is still a very low rent car.. cant hold a candle against the magna, let alone the 380, for refinement, interior comfort and quality, handling, equipment levels, and just about every other aspect that is important

Exactly, the original Magna sold by the truck load because it was a good size with an seemingly economical engine.

When Mitsubishi did away with the 4 cylinder they effectively handed the segment they invented to Toyota.
