Default Platinum edition 380 - your thoughts?

Well here's the latest offering from those good, advertising and marketing savvy people from the kingdom of Tonsley Park. Effectively a more attractive package than the "desperate and try-hard" attempt with the previous DB series 1 "limited edition", the 380 "Platinum Edition" is based on the DB2 SX. Additional and/or "limited" features include:

    1) sunroof
    2) bluetooth (dealer fit)
    3) reverse sensors (dealer fit)
    4) colour coded rear bumper insert
    5) colour coded grille/air dam
    6) colour coded fog light surround
    7) (rear spoiler still optional)

    All from $32,990(man) and $34,990(auto)

    Attachment 25323Attachment 25322

This is no doubt aimed at the new VE Omega V offered from $34,990. However with an additional 6-stack CD in dash stereo, sunroof, bluetooth, reverse sensors, climate control, far sweeter and rev-happy donk, better economy, 5sp tippy, sports interior and full-size spare, I'd have to say the new Mitsubishi 380 "Platinum Edition" wins this battle hands down!

Now to find a way to afford one...
Confuscious say: "man who run naked through airport, is going to Bang-kok..."

    Headlights still look cheap...

I hate the "crystal" look, apart from that, I would take this 380 over the VE omega.

Yeah I saw this the other day.

Not a bad attempt, should find some fans at the bowls club but I doubt it's going to rock the boat against the VE - even if on paper the car is better. With the options that MMAL has fitted it's hard to imagine that the profit margin on the 380 has improved.

If anything it has just cannibalised the SX and LX sales.

Thats a very good deal, but unless they advertise it well, then once again it will go unoticed by the buying public, advertise advertise advertise.

looks alright, not a fan of the front though. The LX i think it is has a much nicer front.

This front end.. would've given it that touch of contrast between mesh.. and paint work..

I see too much silver up front and the heap of colour clashes with those shiny h/lights too!

So these h/lights.. black mesh.. and I think they're getting the hang of this selling cars business..

    Thumbs down from me.
I prefer the VRX blacked out lights and grill; in fact for my next wheels I'm thinking black or dark grey centres/inserts...

I call dibs on your wheels then.

Seriously though, it's too little too late. MMAL needs to do something way bigger than some colour-coded plastic. As already mentioned by another member, it'll just eat away at other 380 models lowering their margin. This isn't even going to put a small dent in the VE bandwagon.
