Default Ticking Noise- Emission Control Valve Replacement

Hey guys, I've had the dredded ticking noise coming from my car for a while, happens when the car warms up and typically on idle.
Ive put together a quick diy to replace the valve see below...

They call it a canister purge valve at mitsubishi stealerships, note the part number on bag and receit. cost is a bit steep at nearly $129!

The valve is behind intake manifold...

    looking from passenger side

put a spanner on the top nut and undo to allow better access

Remove the electrical plug by squeezing together, pull of hoses on either end of the valve (plastic cylinder)

    the valve once out,

I tried blowing it out and spraying it out with MAF sensor cleaner to see if this might fix the valve but after reinstalling it, the noise was still present.

I then installed the new valve which is just a reverse of getting it out, started the car and ... no more noise. thanks for checking this out guys.

*edit; I had to resort to buying and installing this myself as I was 1400km past 130,000km warranty period and mitsubishi didnt want to honour the warranty after this point, I even tried their goodwill clause as they call it and still I was denied... even though my family have 7 late model mitsubishi cars (we're a loyal bunch) they wouldnt replace my $129 valve

Thanks for the DIY mate, should help a few members.
I tried MAF sensor cleaner and blowing through mine as well, no change.
But then mine wasn't faulty to start with!

Massive thanks leftinthedust for taking the time to post pics buddy, mine is under warranty but might have a crack at cleaning before asking Mitsu to take a look.

    Cheers

no probs, if you lift the bonnet of your car while its running you can follow the noise to the ecv (if this is the culprit) put your hand on it and you can feel the clicking inside.

yep a couple of us in toowoomba dude!

Even when it's OK it pulses, so don't let that fool you!

understood, but just looking at it when it doesn't tick wouldn't indicate a problem to me ( of course it may pulse when you touch it), I guess hearing the noise then holding it to be fairly sure that IT needs replacement and not something else.

What other symptoms are there besides ticking noise on idle? Mine makes this raffle ticket spinning noise every time I take off after I start up the car from being parked hot or cold doesn't matter. Was wondering whether this is the ECV too?

I didnt notice any other real symptoms apart from what was mentioned earlier in this thread.
Try hard to locate where the noise is coming from, does it come from around those places I have taken pics of at the back of the motor or somewhere else??
